Chance has made huge steps in trusting people in a years time.
These are a few things that have changed for Chance:

He will let us clean his hooves.

Touching him with objects or draping ropes over him has taught him about “touch”, which isn’t going to harm him.

We don’t have to chase him to get him haltered.

A major change is that his instinct to run from anything new, like a sound or object, has calmed down.
He and Archimedes have become best friends. His favorite thing to do is hangout inside the barn and look for treats.
